This web site give information about data-driven clean air legislation currently before the Louisiana State Legislature. It will probably be heard in Committee April 14, 2026.

The Initiative

Air Quality Action for Louisiana Communities

In the 2026 Louisiana legislative session, State Senator Royce Duplessis introduced SB356, which "Provides for air monitoring systems in certain facilities." The bill will probably be heard in Senate Environmental Quality Committee on April 14, 2026.

We are dedicated to passing meaningful air monitoring legislation in Louisiana.

*What is "Real-time Fenceline Monitoring?

A system of instruments which detect and report toxic air emissions at factories, at the time that the emissions are produced.

SB356 will require Louisiana’s 117 highest risk industrial facilities to install real-time fenceline air monitoring around their entire property boundary.

  • Contact members of Senate Environmental Quality Committee. Urge them to consider the health of all Louisianans and pass this legislation. Here are their email addresses and phone numbers. Here is a template letter (or email) to send to Committee Members.

  • Contact your Louisiana State Representative and Senator to make them aware of the legislation and that you support it. Don't know who they are? Find out here. Here is a sample template letter (or email) to send to them. Modify it as you wish.

  • Here is another letter of support to send the Senate Environmental Quality Committee. This one addresses multiple issue, such as worker protection, emergency response,  transparency and public trust. PLEASE SEND a letter such as this BEFORE April 13. You can modify as desired and also you can send it to your own legislators and have them communicate with SEQ.
